~Zack Fair X Reader~

Part four: Misery loves company

Earlier this morning, Reno came to your room and told you that you are required at the boss' office. So, you did so. Even if you still weren't a morning person... But it was your job...

And at the moment you entered Tseng's office, you felt your stomach drop; Tseng was sitting there, of course, but next to him was standing the smugly auburn haired 1st class SOLDIER. And as you entered the room, a beautiful pair of Mako infused eyes met your own (e/c) ones and you smiled as you approached him. Zack and you stood there like two obediant dogs, waiting for the orders from your superiors. Tseng laced his fingers and leaned on them, looking you and Zack simultaneously dead in the eye, then sighed, sunk a little in his chair and closed his eyes

"Do two of you know why you are here?" You kept your eyes locked on his, not knowing what to say, so you simply shook your head slightly. Tseng's gaze transfered to Zack, who simply shrugged and put his hands on his hips
"But I suppose we are here to find out? And you are the one to tell us." Zack exclaimed and Tseng closed his dark eyes once again for confirmation and nodded slightly, barely noticable.

You glanced at Genesis, who still wore that smugly smirk which made you shudder
'This is his doing. Whatever Tseng's up to, Genesis talked him into this.
The question is; What is it he has done? Or even worse: What is he up to?'

Tseng's voice snapped you out of your thoughts and your gaze returned at him. He stood up and leaned on his desk slightly and looked at the both of you, smiling slightly
"________, I believe that Genesis has informed you about the mission in Gongaga?" Your (s/c) skin became as pale as a moonlight as you remembered the little talk from the last night. Simple nod confirmed his question and he smiled as he nodded
"I suppose you know why you are here, then?" Again, a small nod and a hum in response
"B-but boss, who am I going with? Or you are sending me alone?" Your question made him and your auburn 'friend' laugh slightly. Tseng shook his head and nodded towards Zack

"You and Reno are going with Genesis and Puppy. Reno is awaiting at the helicopter" Zack and you looked at each other at the same time and he grinned, which you responded by a gentle smile. Well, at least you are going with someone with who you'll have some fun and won't be bored with.
"And-" Once again, Tseng regained your attention and Genesis stepped out and your eyes widenned
"1st class SOLDIER Rhapsodos is coming along" Tseng exclaimed and Genesis bowed dramatically and walked towards the door, passing both you and Zack
"My friend, do you fly away now..." Aaand there we go... You rolled your eyes and followed Genesis, Zack following you and Tseng sat back to his chair, lacing his fingers and smirking
"This is going to be interesting..."

Genesis and Zack walked a bit in front of you, since you dragged along from the lack of the sleep lately
"Gongaga... I haven't been there since my childhood... I wonder if it has changed? Perhaps some of my friends are still there.
After all, Genesis lived in Banora, but he used to come often. Those were good times... Why don't we hang out like we used to? Is it because we went on a different paths? Or maybe we grew up?

You used to go to Banora often because your gradparents lived there and Genesis' lived in Gongaga. That is probably what got the two of you so close and grew a strong friendship.

Zack kept on drabbling about the mission you were attending to, every word of his dripping with excitement. Genesis looked over his shoulder and saw you keeping behind, then tapped on ravenette's shoulder and nodded towards you, signaling him to stop for a moment.
Two of them stood about two feet away from you, both in an amused stance. You were so lost in your thoughts and nostalgia that you nearly bumped into them, but luckily for you, Genesis cleared his throat to gain your attention and Zack chuckled, which caused you to snap out of your thoughts and look up, then blush at your own daydreaming. The auburn friend of yours frowned slightly, approaching you slightly. He put his hand on your shoulder and gave you a sypathetic smile

"Is it something bothering you, ________?"
His question made you shake your head and smile, putting your hand over his
"It's nothing, really..." You trailed off and Zack came closer to you and spread his arms wide
"Hey, it looks like somebody needs a hug?" He smiled widely and you returned the gesture, Genesis let go of you and you hugged Zack with all your might.

Not waiting for the two of you, Genesis smiled and continued on walking, drabbling something like '...the gift of the Godess...' to himself. Two of you pulled away and jogged to catch up with your auburn haired friend. Genesis rolled his eyes and chuckled at both of you, murmuring how 'Angeal was right when he called Zack puppy and you a kitten'.

Walking down the hallway of the Turk's floor and later going up to the SOLDIER one, you came to realise that this isn't the way to the outside, even less to the Reno's helicopter. Genesis looked at you over his shoulder when you tapped his shoulder lightly, Zack turning around as well
"Yes, _______?"
"Um, where are we exactly going? I mean, at the moment" You questioned, doing the funny motions by pointing with your fingers to the floor while saying 'at the moment'. Genesis' response was his arm, lent out and pointing over at the huge glass door that was barely visible from the wall that it was behind
"To gather our stuff before going." He nodded towards yourself slightly "Do you have your stuff prepared?"
You only tapped around your waist to feel for your handgun and shocker, which you have luckily found there. As the auburn haired man received thumbs up, he only chuckled at you and shook his head. After you guys reached the glass door, you were instructed by your friends to wait outside, simply because there was no use for you to come along and simply stand aside as the two of them gather their weapons and other stuff from their pods.

After about three or four minutes, you grew bored. So, you paced around along the short hallway, on which's end was pristine white laboratory, and quietly hummed the melody of your favorite song. Your gaze was somewhere on the cold, cerulean marble floor and your feet when you turned on your heel to head the other way (again) and instead of one pair of feet, you saw three. Your gaze quickly shot up and you almost hit the tall ravenette in the nose

"G-general, commander!" You quickly stood up straight and saluted awkwardly, not that you're doing it everyday since you are a Turk, not a SOLDIER. Angeal only chuckled at you and Sephiroth waved his hand dissmisively
"Please, without formalities _______" Was Angeal's simple response and you let out a sigh of relief
"Sorry..."
Sephiroth looked around slightly, his silver hair trailing behind him from the sudden turn behind
"So... Are you waiting for someone or?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, sligthly quizzical look on his features.
Angeal crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes, smirk never leaving his face
"You are waiting for the Puppy, aren't you?" His blunt question made your eyes wide and jaw drop
"Tsk... Pff... Yeah, right!" You lowered your gaze on the floor "Kind of..." Him and Sephiroth exchanged looks and smirked even more, but you stuck out your pointing finger in a hushing motion
"BUT it's not what you think!" Now, it was your turn to cross your arms and stand in a bit more confident stance "Boss sent me on a mission with the two of them!"
"With who?"
"Yeah, with who ________?" Two of them turned around and you stood on your toes as you peeked over them, smiling widely when noticing your auburn and raven haired friends standing behind Sephiroth and Angeal, amused looks on their faces
"With you, guys!" You stuck out your pointing finger at them and grinned, all of the men in front of you laughing.

Zack pushed his arm between Sephiroth and Angeal, grabbed your small hand and pulled you past them. Both of them looked at Genesis in a quizzical way, but he simply smiled and shrugged, then turned around and followed you and Zack. Angeal and Sephiroth looked after the three of you when ravenette smirked and nodded towards you
"Say, what do you think Genesis has in mind this time?"

Three of you walked for a few minutes outside of the building on a bone freezing wind. Your gaze travelled along the blurry, silver sky when a single cold, transparent drop hit your nose
"Uh... Guys? I think it's going to rain"

Ravenette shot his hand up and waited for a moment or two, feeling nothing at all. He simply smiled at you and poked your nose slightly
"You're imagining things, ________" You only shrugged on this and Genesis chuckled as all three of you continued the walk to Reno and his faithful helicopter.

"This is not going to turn out well..." Genesis paled out as shook his head disapprovingly.

You and Zack looked at each other in a quizzical manner, then at Genesis who thought your looks resembled confused kitten and a puppy. He simply nodded towards the red haired pilot and your eyes widenned in fear, shock and anger;

Reno was drunk. And not only buzzed, no. He was DEAD drunk.

"Heeeeyy guyss, yoo!!" He shouted while nearly falling outside the helicopter. Three of you approached him somewhat cautiously as Genesis was raged.
How are the four of you supposed to go on a super important mission, which should prove your abillities and skilled and reach the place by flying if your pilot is drunk as hell?! Two of you stood there frozen in a fear of what 1st class SOLDIER is going to do to a certain flaming Turk. Genesis stomped over angrily and, not having an intention to attract any attention to himself, grabbed Reno by his collar and whispered in a threathening manner, jaw clenched

"What is the meaning of this, Sinclair?!" Reno looked dumbfounded and confused, but simply shruged and made the auburn haired man furious
"This is not a state you come to a mission! Why are you like this?!" Genesis was sligthly losing his temper, then clicked his tongue annoyed, let go of Reno and walked towards you and Zack. You moved behind the taller man slightly and clung onto his arm, lightly afraid of your childhood friend
"Zack, go and find 2nd class SOLDIERs Kunsel and Cloud just in case something..." He nodded towards Reno "Gets out of control. And make it quick." Genesis commanded the ravenette and Zack simply nodded and ran off to do as he been told, leaving you with Genesis. You blew your bangs out of your face and looked at the larger male in front of you, slightly worried that he will kill both you and Reno.

"Um... Gen?" He hummed in response, annoyed a little. You folded your arms behind your back and slowly approached his side
"What do you need Spik-I-I mean Strife and Kunsel for?" You could see a little amused smirk playing on his lips when you called Cloud 'Spike', you started to remind of the Puppy. Genesis rubbed the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes, then sighed
"Well, it's certainly better to have four SOLDIERs and two Turks, of which is at least one sobber, on a mission than only four of us."
He explained and your lips formed a thin line as you nodded bashfully, blindly agreeing.
"Sooo..." Genesis looked down at you, waiting for you to continue
"Why'd you, of all the Turks, picked me to go on a mission? I mean, Vincent and Rude are far more qualified than me" You stated and Genesis only shrugged
"I don't know... I simply wanted to pick on you for a bit" He smirked and you frowned, remebering that this looked like when he burried you in a sand when you were kids.

It only took about ten minutes for Zack to find his friends and along with them run back to you two, for two of them were just preparing for some sparring.

"2nd class SOLDIERS Strife and Kunsel, reporting to duty, sir!" The red leather clad man only sighed as he shook his head, as if trying to dissmiss the current situation. After a moment of calming down, he finally regained his composure
"Alright then... Strife, you are coming along with me to the front. Just in case this... Idiot does something that might put us all in some kind of trouble. Understood?" Cloud only nodded, saluted afterwards and headed towards the helicopter. Genesis' glare remained on Reno, but soon shrugged it off as he approached you, Kunsel and Zack
"The three of you better not be doing anything suspicious behind there, do you understand?" You only nodded with a small reassuring smile, while the ravenette and ginger head saluted with a 'Yes, sir!'

As the three of you approached the helicopter, two of the boys let you go first with a "Ladies first, _______~" Zack cooed and you smiled with a scrunched nose, making a funny face and causing your two friends to chuckle. You tried to get into the 'copter, but you simply couldn't reach the frame of the door. Kunsel asked you to move a little to the side as he entered the first, then reaching out his hand to help you get in. You smiled and took his hand, but as soon as your slippery shoe stepped on the metalic surface, you slipped and let go of Kunsel's hand in process. Your (e/c) eyes squeezed themselves shut as you braced for the impact with the concrete, but instead of the harsh surface, your small frame was greeted by the soft, yet large arms of none other than Zack Fair. He looked at you a little worried, but then grinned when he figured you were fine. Finally, when all five of you were inside, Reno made a 'Woo-hoo!' shout when the helicopter sliced the air.

You settled yourself in between the two of bigger males
'Mmm~ They are both so soft... And warm!
Your own thoughts and mind, while being comfortable, caused you to lull yourself into a somewhat long slumber. Your (h/c) hair lightly fell over the ravenette's shoulder as you leaned your head on his shoulder, to which he complied by leaning his head on your own.

It was about two hours you were in the air, while you were still tight asleep. Ravenette's steady and even breathing made you sleep like a baby. You looked somewhat like a little owl settled between it's parents, warm and cozy.
Kunsel's gaze travelled from the outside of the flying machine to the two of you, making him smirk
"So... The Turk girl, huh?" Zack's head slowly raised from your own and he made a somewhat quizzical face
"I don't get you. What are you trying to say?" Kunsel rolled his eyes, although that was unnoticable from his helmet
"You know very well... Basically, everyone knows!" He huffed and then smiled when averting his gaze to the front of the helicopter.
Zack looked at his friend, trying to mask his embarassment.
"Kunsel, I assure you tha- -Commander, I'm losing control over the machine...!"
"Don't let us crash! Reno, look out...! -She'll fall over! Catch her-"

You heard the faded voices that belonged to ginger haired male and ravenette, Commander shouting here and there.

"Look out!!"
"________...! _______..."

A loud crash that sounded like shattering of millions of windows, along with several cries and shouts. But your eyes couldn't open.
